mountd state directory in HA setup using cluster filesystem
ng flag

I am running a Spectrum Scale filesystem on RHEL8 that is exported via NFSv3. The HA part is done by ctdb using 4 nodes (active-active), following this configuration guide by the samba/ctdb people: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_CTDB_for_Clustered_NFS.

In the nfs.conf there's a state-directory path for statd which points to a directory on the shared Spectrum Scale filesystem:

Use NGINX as a proxy to terminate SSL and forward request to target with HTTP
cn flag

Assumptions

  • Client requests target websites using HTTPS
  • NGINX server is passed as HTTP proxy for said requests
  • Client and NGINX server can share an SSL certificate

Objective

Allow NGINX to decrypt the request and forward it via HTTP to the end target.

Conclusion

Given that this is possible, what is the technique called and how is it implemented in NGINX?

SRV records not created on new domain controller

I've stood up a new domain controller and attached it to my existing domain and that seemed to complete without issue. But then when standing up a new server and attempting to attach it to the domain using the new domain controller I got an error that it couldn't find the domain controller. It turns out the new domain controller doesn't have ldap and kerberos SRV records for the new DC, only the old o ...

How to write a powershell script to remove all AD Group permissions for a user?

I'm in a rather large company and often have people change roles which requires changing of AD permissions, the process is in need of streamlining, currently there exists a script which copys permissions from a template user to the new user

However this still leaves the user with access to systems they had before which might not be required, currently these have to be removed manually. Is there a ...

What exactly can I conclude from "High scoring spam message has been dropped (in reply to end of DATA command)"?
cn flag

I operate a web site that offers user registrations. Users get automatic registration success e-mails, sent through a professional e-mail hosting company (not directly from our own server). This has worked well for months.

Today for the first time a registration success e-mail has bounced with the error message:

Windows  ->      GCPW
Mac      ->      LDAP
Android  ->   Workspace

Let's take Windows as an example. A user can login into Windows using GCPW by entering his google account info. I want to prevent any login into his gmail account using a browser or any other application that isn't using GCPW.

This is a BYOD environment.

How do you properly boot a system with a failed drive on software raid1 and/or is there any configuration requirements to get this working properly? Is this ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
