NIC ports going offline just by touching the cables slightly
mx flag

A while ago we discovered an issue with most of our NICs in the data center - touching the cables just leads to the ports of the NICs going offline for a couple of seconds. All the NICs are Broadcom or Intel, all bought with servers or separately at Dell.

Last couple of months we did some tests with new servers - the first few months the NICs work without any issues, but after a couple of months, ...

Doubts about DKIM verification (RFC6376)
br flag

Good morning,

https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc6376#section-5 reads:

"Survivability of signatures after transit is not guaranteed, and signatures can fail to verify through no fault of the Signer. Therefore, a Verifier SHOULD NOT treat a message that has one or more bad signatures and no good signatures differently from a message with no signature at all."

What does that exactly mean? That is, for m ...

I have just deployed a new instance of Exchange 2019. Active Sync works fine (outlook and owa) and mail is processed ingress/egress fine. After enabling the IMAP services and associating the self signed certificate with the IMAP service, I fail to sync successfully from outlook client on MacOS.

No responses to ARP requests
au flag

One of my server's physical interfaces eno3 is part of a bridge br0. There is also one LXD machine attached to this bridge (nictype=bridged, parent=br0).

Sometimes ARP stops functioning completely. If I look at a capture of traffic on the bridge br0, I see a lot of ARP requests from the server and VM, but no responses at all. This only affects IPv4.

Restarting the switch attached to eno3 doesn't hel ...

Does mapping internal servers to subdomains leave them more exposed than just using IP?
de flag

We've got a service online that's composed of some Amazon EC2 instances. We were going to map the internal server instances to subdomains for practicality but a colleague said this could end up making our servers more exposed to attackers(e.g.: they'd be able to scan and target us more easily), I've tried researching on this but couldn't really find anything, I could be using the wrong keywords though.  ...

I'm working on WDAC / windows defender application control policy. Around 80% of what I have left is from system32 DLL files, hundreds of them. Windows 10 client systems, mostly 20h2.

The base policy is about as stock as you can get. Allow MS using allowmicrosoft.xml sample policy, the recommended best practice block drivers & apps, and SCCM. The DLLs are failing are MS signed but are coming  ...

Ansible Tower tasks logs and job views

I am evaluating Ansible Tower. The key aspect I am focusing on is the logging: ansible output traces are difficult to check, Ansible Tower should bring among other things a nice view of green spots for each executed tasks of a playbook. ESXi installation PXE boot with GRUB on BIOS (not EFI)

all documents mention syslinux/pxelinux as a way to pxeboot ESXi installation, but I'd like to stay with GRUB 2. How to do that?

I'm able, of course, to load GRUB 2 via network (i386-pc/core.0 for non-UEFI host) but then I can't figure out what should I put to load mboot.c32 or if it is possible to boot b.b00 somehow directly.

In short, assume I am a SAAS provider saas.com and my customer is customer.com. I've seen that it is possible to:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
