Managing Multiple UPSs, Each at a Different Location
eg flag

I have three UPSs which are physically located in three different places. All equipment is connected on the same LAN. Each UPS has at least one workstation attached. One of the UPSs handles the router, VoIP connection and the fiber hardware.

I have experimented with using Network UPS Tools [NUT] running on a Raspberry Pi 3B connected to a single APC UPS and it works fine, sending an email messa ...

How to debug policy enforcement on YARN queues?
ag flag

I have a HDP 3.1 cluster and it seems that the fair policy isn't behaving as expected or YARN is misconfigured, since some users/applications/jobs are consuming more resources than we supposed it to use. So how do I debug/monitor YARN in a way that when some behaviour occurs I get notified, as well as, log the information I need to debug the queues so I can check if there is, in fact, a problem?

Why do some elements of the joomla site not load after setting limit_req?
ro flag

I have an Nginx reverse proxy that forwards http and https requests to contianers from a Docker server. Recently, I set up a DoS / DDoS protection on the proxy so that the docker server resources don't get saturated. The setup successfully mitigated the attacks, however some elements of the joomla site do not load. I wonder what I'm doing wrong. Below are the settings made.

AWS Load Balancer 502 Bad Gateway

I have multiple node web servers hosted on EC2 with a Load Balancer, and some users are getting a 502 even before the request reaches the server.

I don't have the logs of those requests inside the servers, that's why I am assuming that the request never reaches the server.

I had a similar problem before, and I had to add keepAliveTimeout and headersTimeout to the node configuration.

systemd-udevd spams systemd-udevd[1523120]: veth20996a5: Failed to get link config: No such device

I have setup my server logging with graylog and now I see that my logs are being spamed by level: 3 errors like these:

I think vethxxxxxxx is an interface created by Docker, but I can't figure out what is causing these errors.

Any help to solve this and find reason for these errors would be really appreciated.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
