How common are single quotes (apostrophes) in Windows usernames? What about in Ireland?
us flag

today we discovered our developer-focused GUI app doesn't work on systems where the username contains an apostrophe. Because although it's multi-platform, part of it runs in a linux VM where shell scripts are generated on the fly. We did the quoting needed to handle names and paths containing spaces, but didn't figure on single quotes.

It looks like scoop doesn't work in such environments either, but I  ...

2.Balanced persistent disks (pd-balanced) are backed by solid-state drives (SSD). They are an alternative to SSD persistent disks that balance performance and cost.

Info about vhosts in RabbitMQ
mu flag

I've a couple of questions about vhosts in RabbitMQ:

  • Are there any vhost created by default when you install RabbitMQ?
  • In particular, when you deploy a RabbitMQ cluster in a Kubernetes cluster is it created a vhost by default which group all the RabbitMQ nodes?

EDIT 1: I've found that by default there is one vhost named "/", my question now is: is that vhost the virtual group of all RabbitMQ nodes ...

I bought a PHP script on CodeCanyon from a well reviewed user and a 5-star script and installed it on my own server with the intention of modifying it for my own use (complies with the license). However I ran into an issue and contacted support. They asked for my purchase code, which is fine, they want to verify I bought the script. However they mentioned that they saw that my script has been modified a ...

Rspamd log entries halt every 5 mintues

I'm not sure this problem is specific to rspamd, but I'm finding it interesting. Every five minutes, 6-7 seconds after the five minute mark, log entries halt for the service. For example, it's 19:57:21 right now, and the last entry in the log is:

How to disable auto-update for virtual machines in Azure?
mp flag

In my azure environment there are sets of virtual machines that are rebooting at the same time, I assume it has to do with auto-update settings. How do I turn off the auto-updates and enable manual scheduling for Azure Virtual Machine updates? When I go to the update blade it doesn't provide me any options.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
