Remote Desktop (App Store version) can't connect to localhost
br flag

OK we have a weird setup I know.. We create an SSH tunnel to our work network, then use RDP to connect to our workstations in the office. Our SSH client is setup to forward local post 1024 to our workstation on port 3389. enter image description here

This works great with Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe), but doesn't work with the Microsoft Store version of Remote Desktop.

I am using a docker container and Docker-Traefik, the exposed port is 3308 and it maps to 3306, when I test the connection inside of Navicat's Edit Connection Modal, it works. It says Connection Successful or something like that, but when I save,  ...

Alacritty throws "E558: Terminal entry not found in terminfo" when running "htop" and "Error opening terminal: alacritty." when opening files with vim

The errors

Terminal entry not found in terminfo

and

Error opening terminal: alacritty

happen to me on a legacy server when I ssh'ed to it like:

ssh MY_USER@MY_SERVER

and use Alacritty to open text files with vi MY_TEXT_FILE.

The following is just a warning that does not keep me from working with the file in vim, but starts with these lines whenever I look up a vim file:

in flag

I have two instances in OIC free tier.

I saw that I cant connect to either server with SSH.

I logged in to web ui and see both instances running, but they lack Public IP. These IPs where assigned at instance creation, and I never fiddled with any IP settings.

I dont see anything of value in the logs.

One of the instances have been up and working for months.

How to containerize a Linux native application in order to have multiple versions of it running at the same time from mostly the same codebase?
cn flag

I have a Linux server application that is no longer supported by the vendor.

I need to run 2-3 versions of this application at the same time in parallel.

I can set up different VMs for it, and it works just fine, but it consumes more resources than needed.

Another approach would be to run it in containers, but again, in this case I would have to have 2-3 copies of the same application, which takes a lo ...

I have several VLANs/networks - eg.:

Does creating a 10th level domain require creating 9 domain that preced to it?
iq flag

Let's say, I own a domain example.com and it's setup correctly in my domain management dashboard. Now I want to create a long subdomain of the 10th level:

d10.d9.d8....d2.example.com

Will all that require that I somehow specify the IP addresses, or whatever what's required, for all the 9 domains that preced it? Or can I go straight to d10. and specify the IP address for d10 only?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
