What cloudwatch metric do I use for checking how much space is left on Elasticache Redis?
us flag

I found that some cached items are being lost on production once in a while, the test and production environment settings are practically the same, so I am suspecting it is Redis running out of "space" but I am not sure what to look for.

The following is a 3-day range (I did a removal of some bad entries where the TTL was forgotten about 4 days ago) but I don't really see anything special

How to stop exchange transport rule from adding duplicate disclaimers?
ao flag

We needed to add a warning to all emails sent outside the organization. I went in to the M365 Exchange Admin center, under mail flow > rules, adding a rule that appends a disclaimer to every message sent outside the organization. Great, check that box for a job well done.

In practice, if you have a long email chain with an external contact you will find these disclaimers piling up at the end. The dup ...

What controls the NIC naming convention after fresh Ubuntu 20.04 install?
us flag

This is a fresh install Ubuntu server 20.04.04 system. I'm using networkd and netplan to configure networking. I did not do any custom install steps, just loaded the .iso and installed Ubuntu server through the prompts.

When these machines were shipped from the vendor, Ubuntu was already installed and the network interfaces were named ens1f0 and ens1f1:

Hope you are doing well - I'm running a Wordpress site with Woocommerce on a OpenLiteSpeed web server that under heavy PHP usage starts showing Timed-out 504 errors. I'm hosting everything in AWS and I'm struggling to identify the causes of the 504 errors and what could be improved to avoid them. Here are some details:

I have a CentOS 7 VPS with 40GB of SSD space, I recently upgraded it to 80GB. How do extend the / partition? I don't want to reinstall Centos 7 and the Centos Web Panel as it was suggested to me that I do. I only want to extend the disk size.

Here is the necessary information:

Is it possible to monitor / limit file share downloads by users on a domain based on amount of data involved?
cn flag

I don't think it is, but a client was wondering if we could utilize such a method to monitor / block mass downloads of a whole file share at once while still allowing the user to access the same file share in smaller amounts to work from as normal. Something along the lines of if a copy request comes in for over 100GB to deny access.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
