How do i know if example.com is delegating example.mydomain.com to its own zone?
cn flag

An additional question is, can I find out what zones example.com is delegating to?

This all assumes I am not an Admin for any of the sites/zones in question -- I'm just on the public internet, these are public-facing servers/zones, etc.

If i know that foo.example.com exists, and it has an SOA record, does that mean that it is being delegated to, by definition? (assuming it's not configured incorrectly)

How to link ipsec clients with different connections in StrongSwan?
my flag

I use strongswan ipsec as VPN gateway for mobile devices (Android). In StrongSwan config I've setup 2 connections (two different subnets 10.10.10.0/24, 10.10.20.0/24 with different routing policies) for 2 different groups of users.

And I don't understand (and can't find in manuals and forums) how to link user with connection. Where and how to setup a strict user>connection relation ?

Thank you! ...

Configuring BIND9 (ver 9.16) to allow TXT DNS updates from Letsncrypt
jp flag

Solution to the below problem: Use $ddns-confgen or $tsig-keygen, the former provides you with the syntax to paste into your named.conf file

Problem:

I am trying to configure a BIND9 (ver9.161-Ubuntu) to allow me to create TXT records which Letsecrypt can use to validate the domain, ultimately to allow for the generation of SSL certs for internal/private systems.

How to separate commands issued in a terminal from their output?

I'm realising that for 90% of my day I'm staring at the same part of my screen -- the bottom-left corner -- while I type commands and wait for output. I'm starting to develop quite the neck strain, constantly staring downward like that and it got me thinking: surely there's a way for my terminal to separate the line on which I'm writing commands from the output that they generate, and therefore place t ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
