Is it best to have the OS on a separate virtual disk?
in flag

I have a server with 8 drive bays, and I have eight 4TB drives. Would it be best to do one RAID10 with all drives, or one RAID1 with two drives and then a RAID10 with the remaining six so that the operating system (Windows Server) has its own drive (and not just a partition)?

The large disk will house 1-3 VHDXs. My priorities are first: redundancy, second: write speed, third: read speed. Backups ...

How Do I Fix My DNSSEC? I never got DNSSEC working and have probably worsened the problems
cn flag

My attempt to DNSSEC has not been successful. To help understand DNSSEC I have read many online articles, man pages for rndc, dnssec-*, viewed dnsviz.net and dnssec-analyzer.verisignlabs.com/. Most of the information explains DNSSEC in great detail but I need to know WHAT to do and how to FIX the problems.

For example, dnsviz.net/allenintech.com indicates, "no valid DNSKEY records are provided by ...

Windows Server blocking access from OpenVPN connected users

I have remote users connecting to an internal work network via an OpenVPN service that's running on a QNAP device. The QNAP device is connected to the internal work network and is routing traffic from remote users perfectly well with one vital exception. Once users are connected to the VPN they can ping and access services on every network device EXCEPT a Windows Server. They simply can't ping th ...

Is having DKIM signatures not matching worse than not signing DKIM at all?

If I sign mail with a private key which does not have a corresponding public key in the DNS, is this worse (for deliverability), than not signing the message at all?

I know will be down to the receiving mail server, which can implement any rules it likes, but I was hoping there is general guidance about this.

The reason I'm asking is that I'll control the signing of some mail, but I can't be sure if ...

Internal DNS without Wireguard "proxy"

Problem: Wireguard obfuscates DNS request, so all DNS lookups from devices connected via VPN are seen as coming from Wireguard server. This prevents me from setting up per-device DNS white/black lists.

Entering IP of internal DNS server as DNS in Wireguard profile does not work (nothing resolves) despite access to that IP through VPN.

Do I need to set DNS server as one of Wireguard clients for it to wo ...

Best way to set the network infrastructure - Windows Server (AD, DHCP, DNS) + Router + VPN + Load Balance

First of all, I'd like to say I really like working with networks and managing computers, but I do it as a hobby. I'm not really a professional and only do it for my own things as I love learning about IT. Btw, English is not my first language, so expect some weird expressions along the way.

So, I'm managing an office with approximately 20 computers connected to a server with AD. The server has t ...

How can I figure out where this bash scripts resides, what the content of the script is?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
