nginx reverse proxy success in local network but failure in public network
gi flag

I'm learning how to use reverse proxy based on server names with nginx. I got everything to work 100% perfectly in home office network. But when I open up my home's firewall and port-forward external traffic to my reverse proxy server in my house, it's like nginx doesn't recognize the server name rules, and keeps using the default rule. So my question is, how do I get reverse proxy with server names to ...

How to setup a VPN server as the only way to access Docker containers on a Linux VPS?
lt flag

I'm running a container with docker-compose on a Linux VPS (Ubuntu 20.04). I want the container to be accessible only via a VPN (ie: the container ports are not exposed on the host to the Internet and the container only accepts traffic from 127.0.0.1 and the docker network) so I am thinking of setting up a VPN server on the VPS. I would like to understand if it's feasible and get suggestions on how to i ...

How to set the lifetime of a CA certificate?

I'm trying to install a subordinate CA with Microsoft ADCS and when I do, it creates a .req file. Then I use that at the root CA to issue a certificate. The resulting certificate is always for 5 years. I want it to be 10. I have tried setting ValidityPeriod=Years and ValidityPeriodUnits=10 in the CAPolicy.inf file on the subordinate CA. And I have tried various other things, but nothing seems to make an ...

Nginx location serve PHP in directory
za flag

In transitioning from Apache to nginx in Docker for my Drupal dev I have an edge case that I cannot determine the proper rule. Because Drupal defaults every .php to index.php, I followed its white list syntax prior to this default to serve up all php files in a given directory. OK, now let's try to figure out why this always returns a 404. I have set this rule in this order.

Trying to get Apache to serve webp instead of png/jpg (from /img folder of prestashop)
cn flag

First post here, so I hope I did it well.

I converted all png/jpg starting from my prestashop public_html folder to webp, and added rewrite rules to the .htaccess in order to have the webp served instead of png/jpg.

I based my rewrites on the already existing prestashop rewrites. Where I had:
RewriteRule ^([0-9])(\-[_a-zA-Z0-9-]*)?(-[0-9]+)?/.+\.jpg$ %{ENV:REWRITEBASE}img/p/$1/$1$2$3.jpg [L]

How can I automate initial authentication between devices?

I have a set of devices with static ip addresses that I want to create ssh tunnels between in order to share files. I want this to happen behind the scenes so users don't have to worry about establishing/authenticating these connections. I have control over these devices' base images.

Postfix receive email after bad configuration
cn flag

I had a bad configuration on my postfix server so I didn't receive email.

After my correction (delay 24h) I receive email but not all one shot, maybe one email by 15-30min. Is there a command for mail server sender to "ask" to resend email or I need to wait?

I'm afraid to lost email.

Thanks

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
