DNS record for UPN alias?
in flag

I have a active directory domain ad.example.com and I configured an UPN alias example.com

When a user tries to logon as user@example.com how does it know the domain is actually ad.example.com?

Don't I need a SRV record or something in the parent zone to hint to the AD?

AWS ALB for TCP socket connections on a custom port number?
es flag

I have an application load balancer (ALB) and a number of web servers behind it. Apart from HTTP and HTTPS, the web servers also serve long-lasting TCP socket connections on port 52345.

When a client socket tries to connect to the ALB on port 52345, it fails, because ALB does not have a listener on this port.

When I tried to add a listener on this port, I realized that ALB only allows listeners on  ...

I am building a Podman container that runs Samba Active Directory with Bind9 and Freeradius support using Ansible and have runned into a bit of a snag.

Samba runs fine with DLZ_BIND as backend in my container, but I need to integrate Freeradius into the container, so I can support logins via VPN.

I am trying to templating the following line in /etc/freeradius/3.0/mods-available/mschap:

Modsecurity & LEMP Server Running Wordpress - Rule Exclusions for iOS Wordpress app
mx flag

I am very new to mod-security, and have been struggling quite a bit with rule exclusions that are beyond the scope of examples shown in this tutorial from Linuxbabe.com. I am running a Wordpress LEMP Server, and my issue is specific to getting the iOS Wordpress app working properly, without mod-security interpreting posts from the iOS Wordpress app as attacks. Also, note, I am using the OSWAP ruleset w ...

On virt-manager redirecting iso file as usb dvd
gb flag

On Fedora 35, I could redirect an iso file under Virtual Machine>>Redirect USB device>>spice DVD(?) selection. However, on a Kubuntu 20.04, I happen to only see real USB devices and not the spice USB DVD. Does anyone know what I need to install or configure to be able to input an iso from workstation to VM on a server seamlessly on Ubuntu? (Redirection itself works btw.)

Kubernetes NGINX Ingress controller default page / redirect
cn flag

I was wondering if there is a way to change the behaviour of the nginx ingress controller so that instead of a 404 page it displays another web page or does a redirect? Sadly you can’t do

  • host: “*”

To achieve the same thing since its not a valid subdomain definition.

Any help is much appreciated!

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
