How to calculate CPU utilization for an application in a multicore system

On 8-core server, 0-3 are configured as isolcpus and remaining cores (4-7) are available for system and user processes to run. My application has multiple processes which will run on any one of the mentioned non-isolcpu cores (4-7).

I need to find the total CPU utilization of the application (all processes combined) to determine the right isolcpus range to be configured for the system.

Incoming IP addresses still processed even if all ports closed?

Does a computer process IP addresses of incoming connections even if all of its ports are closed?

To be precise:

(2) process = absolutely any/every possible kind of processing at all, the actual processing of the IP address

For example, is it necessary for a computer to process the IP address of the incoming con ...

Background

I cannot for the life of me get this to work. I have a local host machine running MacOS and utilizing the native Mac WireGuard application. I am trying to establish a connection to a remote linux host running Ubuntu Server. One question I have, is do I have to forward the port of my linux server to the router on that network? Also any tips in troubleshooting would be very helpful.

Network distance effect on SSH transfer speeds

I have two identical servers running identical software. One of them is in the same datacenter as the source, with the other being 100ms+ away.

When running a bandwidth-heavy piped ssh transfer on the server that's just a hop away I can easily saturate the connection. When the server is far away I get maybe 10 Mbps (1/100th the speed).

iperf shows the far away server does a good 300 Mbps and can sat ...

I read that I can use tinc to establish a peer to peer connection between the raspberry pi and VPS server. This worked great so now I have created a network between vps and raspberry ...

What's the advantage of uwsgi protocol over http for Apache proxying?
us flag

I've just set up a couple of WSGI apps behind an Apache server proxying to uwsgi using UNIX sockets on the same host. The generally advertised method to do that seems to be like this:

Apache config:
ProxyPass / unix:/var/lib/uwsgi/app1.sock|uwsgi://uwsgi-uds-app1/

uwsgi .ini
socket = /var/lib/uwsgi/app1.sock

I've done it a bit differently:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
