20.04 Login screen is bypassed when waking up from hibernate-to-disk

jp flag

Whenever I wake my Thinkbook from hibernate to disk, a gdm session owned by gdm runs at 100% CPU. If I sudo kill -9 it, everything seems fine. But this happens every single wakeup. How can I fix this?

Edit:

Interesting observation from just now. I booted up my laptop again after hibernate-to-disk, and GDM came up, asking for my password. This has never happened before. And after entering my password, GDM isn't running at 100% like it usually does.

This means that my issue is actually a side-effect of a potentially important security issue.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
