How to give wine root?

au flag

A fairly new Ubuntu user here. I want to install and use apps and games for Windows on my machine.

I have done so far:

  • Installed Ubuntu on my SSD
  • Mounted my 1 TB HDD to /usr/local
  • Tried to run PlayonLinux and Bottles

The problem is that I want to install things on HDD and no app whatsoever has permissions for that. With Steam it was fairly simple and with some fiddling I could give myself root access to /usr/local and then pass it to Steam so it could install it there. What do I do with other apps that are not in Steam? Cause as of now they don't even see this directory.

Just wondering why did you mount your hdd on `/usr/local` ? Normally they reside on `/mnt` or `/media`.

I'm not sure, I guess I saw it somewhere. I was following a guide on partitioning. Did I make a mistake and should do it differently?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
