Mouse (single/double click) does not work in secondary screen/monitor

kz flag

I have installed VirtualBox 6.1.28 r147628 (Qt5.6.2) where:

  • The Host is Windows 7
  • The Guest is Ubuntu Desktop 20.04

The Guest Additions was installed through the .iso file. Therefore is possible:

  • Share directories copy/paste between the Host and Guest
  • Copy/paste between the Host and Guest

About the Display (Monitors). The guest instance configuration is:

Video Memory: 64MB
Monitor Count: 2
Scale Factor: 100%
Graphics Controller: VMSVGA

According with:

When Linux is the Guest, should VMSVGA be used . So I am assuming my current configuration is ok. I am able to get the 2 monitors configured, and based on extend. Furthermore was mandatory do the following:

  1. In the login screen do clic in the Settings icon and not use wayland
  2. Once logged go to Settings -> Displays -> Join Displays - the resolutions are based mostly according of the Host - it how reference

About the Secondary Monitors: It is an AOC of 42 inches and according with the printed reference manual it has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 60Hz - it is connected through hdmi

Note: I did do configuration even with the cvt and xrandr commands too

Problem: In the secondary monitor I am able to see anything, for example a Terminal and Firefox opened. But is impossible do click - and double click - in their links or/and resize/close icons (The fonts and icons are normal). To execute a link is mandatory do and keep press the left click of the laptop and then press the Intro/Enter button.

I read this:

After to had installed unity

I got:

unity --replace
compizconfig - Info: Backend : gsettings
compizconfig - Info: Integration : true
compizconfig - Info: Profile : unity
We're already using profile 'unity', no need to switch
WARNING: This is for compatibility with other desktop interfaces please use unity without --replace

And sadly it did not work too

What to do?

Note When I used Ubuntu Desktop 18.04 this problem did not exist. Now with 20.04 exists

This is an issue that pops up every few versions with VirtualBox. The problem is with VBox itself, not the guest OS. Only suggestion is to try a newer/different version of VirtualBox and be sure the guest additions are properly installed

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
