Gray screen instead of KDE's lock screen

ba flag

What is kscreenlocker_greet?

Through this process, the entire screen is a gray area, with mouse pointer. This gray overlay cannot be removed or closed by any keystroke or mouse click. Only by running killall kscreenlocker_greet in another tty, I was able to see the normal lock screen with the password input field on tty1 again.

The running command was:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kscreenlocker_greet --immediateLock --graceTime 5000 --ksldfd 40

What is this process useful and necessary?

Unfortunately, I have had this problem several times. Mostly after I locked the laptop and took it out of the dock and I later wanted to work directly on the laptop with the laptop screen. In the dock, the laptop is closed and I work with two external monitors.

I use Kubuntu 22.04 with KDE Plasma 5.24.6 and KDE Framework 5.92.

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
