I wanted to monitor browser settings (especially related to proxies, if any set). I did some research and found the system preference list files (.plist) files hold such data. When I checked on a OSX system, I found there are many .plist files.

  1. How to figure which of these hold browser related data, for all Browsers installed on my Mac OS ?

How to share VPN network access

I have got this setup with two LANs and OpenVPN infra. I need to share the OpenVPN connection attached to Proxmox server (10.8.0.12) to the Proxmox VMs (192.168.0,1,2,3,...).

I was trying to use linux bridge on Proxmox:

        bridge-ports none
        bridge-stp off

/etc/resolv.conf is missing after installation of RHEL 8
ao flag

I have installed RedHat Enterprise Linux 8.4 (minimal install) on my local server, and got some docker related issues.

Then I found that /etc/resolv.conf was missing.

After executing "systemctl reload NetworkManager", the file was made and docker worked.

I'm not sure why I have to reload NetworkManager to create resolv.conf and whether my network is working properly. Is there any common way to do this  ...

I just set up HPE SX40 (Supermicro SYS-1029GQ-TVRT).

The system stuck on boot with "initializing ... 91". I tried some crude test like remove all memory, and got relevant error message.

So, 1)removed all pcie cards (including NVIDIA SXM2 adapter boards) and boot -> no luck

2)Followed FAQ to reset CMOS (https://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=18922) -> no luck

SQL Sync Scenarios (on-prem to Azure)
cn flag

I would like your help making a decision on the following: We have a local SQL server and we would like to sync to either Azure SQL on VM or Managed Instance using Sync Framework 2.1.

From what I understand, the framework would work only on Azure SQL (PaaS) not managed instances. Is this confirmed?

Also, If we opt-in for the Azure-hosted SQL on VM, would the framework work?

thank you

kubernetes coredns is in CrashLoopBackOff status with "no nameservers found" error
ao flag

I have tried to build kubernetes using kubeadm on my bare-metal server with containerd as cri, but it seemed that coredns failed to start after installing cni (weave-net).

Two coredns containers are now in "CrashLoopBackOff" state, and the logs of them are:

And the description of "kubectl describe pod" is as follows:

Converting phone wall mount to ethernet mount
uz flag

I currently have a telephone wall mount. 1 near the router, 2 more in another 2 rooms.

When I remove the wall mount, I can see 4 wires from the cable. Red, Blue, White and Grey.

My question is, can this cable be converted to ethernet so that I can connect my pc in another room using ethernet straight to the router?

I attached some photos. Room Near Router

IIS Manager Missing Server Certificates

I have a server, CPTE230B, which has IIS installed, and IIS Management Tools. I need to add a server certificate from my AD Certificate Server, but that option does not show up in IIS manager. Is there something I'm missing which causes that option to not show up? (To answer a common question, yes, I am clicking on the server level, not the site level.)

Is there such thing as session-wide VPN?
in flag

To the best of my knowledge, VPN software shows up in the system as virtual network adapters, which seems to be system-wide. I am trying to find a VPN-like solution for enabling connectivity to a remote network which would affect only current user session, but my research shows nothing by far.

Synchronizing threads in multithreaded applications

I use the SIESTA dft package on a CentOS 8 (core) system with a 16 core, 32 thread XEON processor with OpenMPI version 4.1.1 for all calculations.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
