I follow the guide at timescaleDB for APIs with Certificate authentication --> 2. Generate keys and certificates for nodes:

For an SSL connection, you need four environment variables:

  1. SSL Root Certificate
  2. SSL Certificate (for the node)
  3. SSL Key (for the node)
  4. SSL Password (for the node)

As to 1.), you get it from timescale when starting a database as a text or as a download.

Ubuntu server upgrade from 14.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS guide checklist
va flag

As the title suggests, this is a large operation. I already tried doing the dist upgrades in-place to avoid downtime on this production VM, but by the time I get to 20.04 LTS, most of the web applications and setup no longer work correctly.

So I feel like my only option is to install a fresh VM with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on it, use an adjacent IP address, then cutover once happy.

Does `mount -a` make sure that I have a correct /etc/fstab file
in flag

Once a while, I need to adjust mountpoints of a server and it is not always possible for me to reboot the system right away. Therefore, to check if my revision to /etc/fstab is correct, usually I do mount -a to see if there are any complaints. If there are no complaints, I believe my /etc/fstab is okay and let the server team to reboot the server whenever they want.

However, I am keep wondering, i ...

Is there a configuration to cache wifi passwords only for logged in users?
cn flag

I am currently setting up new laptops in our system. All users have a specific group in AD with different credentials for WiFi and login.

The issue is that in order to connect to the domain controller the users have to connect to wifi before logging in (on the lockscreen), unless their credentials are cached.

My goal now is, that every user has to use their own WiFi credentials to access the WiFi. I ...

IPv6 connectivity suddenly lost, IPv6 neighbour router status becomes STALE at the same time. How can I avoid it?

I have a VM on a host with bridged networking (hence, with its own MAC address). Both host and VM run CentOS. Their network is managed by simple /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-enpXsY files which contains the static IP addresses. IPv4 works just fine.

I have assigned an IPv6 address to the VM (the host also has one) which is routed correctly in the data centre. Most connections use IPv4, however ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
