avahi stops working in multi-user.target

I have another machine on my network running avahi-daemon with the default configuration and it's been working fine since the first boot.

On a newer machine, avahi-daemon works only if i set systemctl set-default graphical.target. With multi-user.target the machine boots, avahi starts and then gets a SIGTERM. This is from journalctl | grep avahi:

Where does my bind config lookup dns entries?
cl flag

Hy, I am in the course of learning how bind works. My goal is to have a local dns database so lookups in my lan are not going out to WAN.

I set up bind and didnt configure it as forwarding or caching server intentionally but it seems that is whats its doing as there is no "big dns" file anywhere, so bind does look up in the wan, but where?

I have enabled logging, but bind only shows which lan - cli ...

How can I ensure my eventlogs and syslogs are in english on a CHinese server?
ph flag

Summary

We are centralising our syslog messages to a single syslog server globally, we have windows (2008, 2016) servers spread across the world, each with their own language so that local staff can manage the servers in their own language.

Problem

We are getting syslog messages in all languages but we need all syslog messages to be in english so that our analysis engines etc will work.

Best way to connect to L2TP VPN from container running in GCP

I've built an ubuntu container locally that uses OpenConnect to establish a connection to a customer's AnyConnect VPN server. They also have an L2TP connection available as well. After OpenConnect establishes a connection, some python code is called to do some data extraction from an MSSQL instance then shut down.

NFS4 background client wont start on reboot and connection timeout

The Sort Version

A NFS4 mount in fstab normally starts a background service to keep retrying when the mount host is not available. However only during a reboot and on a connection timeout does the background service fail to start. If connection is refused on a reboot, or any condition after a reboot, the background service starts.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
