How to run different versions of OpenSSL

The upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 broke the Qt 6.x compatibility with OpenSSL (it requires 1.x but there are 3.x installed). I solved the issue following this procedure. Now I can run the network functions of my Qt application. However this workaround broke the gstreamer compatibilty:

What does 0.0.0.0/0 mean?
jo flag

For example in an 'allow' statement in BIND or in Chrony config files.

Does allow 0.0.0.0/0 mean allowing any clients or allowing no clients?

My question isn't about the specific programs, but just generally what is the correct interpretation of this CIDR notation.

I hope you're all doing well and being safe.

I have two pods A and B in two different namespaces. I wish that pod A in namespace-a has access to every pod on other namespaces so I ve deployed this NetPol from the Kubernetes documentation :

Kubernetes: using an intermediate CA which certificate is signed by a self-signed root CA certificate
au flag

Does anyone use own certificate chains for Kubernetes clusters?

There's an issue with such kind of setup, and I would be grateful for any ideas on how to solve it.

Let's assume we have a Root CA which certificate is self-signed. Also we have an Intermediate CA which certificate is signed by the Root CA. We make a certification chain (by concatenating both PEM containers in one file) and set up Kuber ...

I am trying to connect to my work machine using RDP.

Using my Android Phone I can connect to it. It shows up in the list and I fill in my details like so: COMPANYNAME\USERNAME. Then I enter the password that I use to log into the work machine with, and all is well.

Now, I go to my Windows 10 PC (NOT the work machine!), I go to the network menu in the explorer,I see the Work machine, I right-click an ...

vm.swappiness in RedHat Enterprise Linux

I don't often post, so apologies in advance if my etiquette is poor.

I'm being directed to add vm.swappiness=0 in /etc/sysctl.conf.

When I view the contents of that file, I see the comments below. I'm not clear on if I should just append vm.swappiness=0 to the bottom of the file, or if I need to place that in one of the other files referenced by the comments:

Where can I set additional conf files for NetworkManager

I am using Linode and every single time I boot my server, Linode (cloud provider) ovewrites the file below:

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

This is well documented and expected in order to keep the network interface working as expected. However sometimes I need to add configurations to this file and (of course) they are lost at next boot time. For example: I need to add the line below in the ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
