SSH access denied for one user
in flag

I encounter an error while trying to connect via SSH to a server, for one user. This user's home directory is in /opt, with a .ssh directory (permissions: 700) and an authorized_keys file containing the public key. It works with other users, whom home directories are in /home, using the same rsa key I can connect as another user. In /var/log/secure I get :

The high-level overview is this: I have an Impish Ubuntu server with two interfaces, addresses of 172.16.2.103/24 and 10.1.2.10/24. I would like default traffic to go via the gateway 172.16.2.254. However, when I specify a source address of 10.1.2.10 I want it to have a gateway of 10.1.2.254. What follows works 99% of the time, but I wish for the kernel to select the source IP 172.16.2.103 even when conta ...

Download from URL into GCP bucket

Given a URL that points to a large file, is there a shortcut to getting that file into a bucket, without downloading it locally and then uploading?

Is there a simpler way to do it, other than building a docker image that does the task and run that in GCP somehow?

AWS Lambda triggered by SQS - Maximize Messages per Call
cn flag

i have a pretty busy SQS Queue which triggers a Lambda function. However, i think it would make a great cost reduction if one Lambda Call would contain 10 messages instead of 1-5 messages. SQS receives at least a few hundred messages per second.

I even tried increasing the Receive Message Wait Time in SQS to enable long polling, but it doesn't help.

How would you set this up?

Is Cloud Best Practice To Still Have Multiple Disks (Volumes) For a Server?
at flag

In the old days of physical servers, it was considered good practice (at least at the places I have worked at) for a server to always have at least two disks (volumes) no matter how simple an application was being hosted.

One disk for the Operating System (OS) and another for the Application. There were a number of reasons for this:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
