Is there a way to install applications using the text based UI that is presented during the OS installation?
ng flag

During a installation of Ubuntu Server you are presented with a screen which has a list of applications you can check that will be installed. For example, one of those applications is docker. I believe these are called “snaps”.

Is there a way of installing these apps using the same GUI after you have installed the OS?

Ubuntu stucked while starting with Black Screen
in flag

Last night my Ubuntu VM was working fine, but today its not starting up. I don't know why it isn't starting up.

I am using Oracle VM Box 6.1 and I have Ubuntu 20.04. It starts up and then stucks after showing [OK] messages.

I have recorded the video to clearly show the steps:

I have no idea to fix this.

Which installation method do I use if I have win 10 on an internal SSD and want to dual boot linux on an external SSD?
cn flag

(Before you read this post I am extraordinarily new to Linux and dual booting and all that jazz.)

I have windows as my main OS on an internal hard drive on my PC. However I want to try using linux and I don't want to outright replace windows as there are some games/software that I know linux cannot handle very easily or without loads of configuring, and I have a totally blank external SSD I want  ...

Mount LUKS encrypted partition at login
vn flag

I would like to mount a LUKS partition on login. The solutions I have found involve using either:

  • a LUKS passphrase that is equal to the user's password, or
  • a keyfile that is stored in the HOME folder

I am looking for a solution that:

  • allows a LUKS passphrase to be different from the user's password, and
  • since my HOME folder is not encrypted, does not leave a keyfile accessible.

Is such as solution av ...

wifi not working (Intel AX210) on my z590 setup? (Trying to install 20.04.3 with kernel 5.11.0)
ua flag

As above.

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 20.04.3 but no network is detected even the wifi controller.

I was initially getting a blank screen so I decided to boot into windows and copy the latest LTS iso to USB using Rufus.

The kernel version was acquired using "uname -a" after booting into the installer.

Thanks

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
