Can't bind volume between container and other container (docker-in-docker)
cn flag

I try to setup my gitlab runner on my M1 MacBook for some environment testing. My CI workflow is quite simple : build -> test -> deploy. I use docker executor and for testing tasks I use docker-compose because I have to deploy a database beside the service I want to test.

My CI works perfectly on a EC2 running Ubuntu. But when I tried to run my runner on macOS, my volume ./backend is not bind with  ...

How to permit only certain e-mail clients for IMAP access
im flag

My company is giving out new Android smartphones to employees, and they should be able to manage their e-mail on them. Currently, only access via webmail is enabled, but the mobile webmail client (Zimbra) is awkward and very feature-limited. Therefore, granting access to e-mail clients (mobile apps) seems to be a good move. However, client software would not be controlled by the company in this scenari ...

Network Solutions DNS not always returning DKIM and SPF records
cn flag

If there is a more appropriate place to ask this or it is a duplicate, please tell me.

I have a client who hosts their domains with Network Solutions. Some of their emails were bouncing due to stricter authorization requirements enforced on certain recieving mail-servers. This was because they had no DKIM, SPF, or DMARC policy. So I set SPF and DKIM up for them-- DMARC pending a solution to th ...

Counts externally accessed IP addresses via iptables or something similar
ma flag

I own a hosting company and I often face the situation where my clients using weak passwords end up being broken and at the same time my VPSs become the source of scans on other hosting companies.

I managed to block through Suricata the situation in which a client scans a certain IP address for several ports or several passwords for the SSH port.

What I fail to do is prevent a client from sending TC ...

Dedicated RAS DHCP pool
ru flag

We have an SSTP server providing VPN access to our users. Said server is assigning IPs from the default DHCP pool from our Windows DHCP server.

Now, I COULD set up the DHCP server on the SSTP server directly (there's an option for that), but I'd much rather use the server we already have (especially since we have two SSTP VMs where one's a failover for the other). However, I'd also like it if SST ...

Set the timeout for SSH connection establishment

How to set the timeout for linux ssh connection establishment? When a certain external connection comes in, eg: ssh [email protected], and it is in the stage of entering the password. After a minute, the connection is dropped. This requires modifying the ssh config file configuration on the client or server side?

Cannot disable DHCP on Debian 11

I have an IBM BladeCenter E with Debian 11 install on a blade server, and I am trying to set up the network with two interfaces (provided on each blade server): one for local network for NFS and one for occasional internet access with static address. I have an ec2 instance.

My purpose is to connect to the ec2 instance if the user just provides ec2 instanceid or public ip.

If they provide instance id, I can fetch the public ip using below command.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
