Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't boot after setting SELinux enforcing
pe flag

I'm trying to set SELinux to enforcing on Ubuntu 20.04, and the steps I did are as follow:

  1. Install SELinux = sudo apt-get install policycoreutils selinux-utils selinux-basics -y
  2. Activate SELinux = sudo selinux-activate
  3. Edit /etc/selinux/config and set SELinux to enforcing mode: sudo selinux-config-enforcing
  4. Reboot: sudo reboot

However, upon reboot, the system doesn't seem to boot. Any reasons why ...

Why is my Laravel App having 3+ seconds TTFB in Production?
cn flag

I've looked around but can't find a definitive answer on if things like Images affect TTFB which would be my best guess as to why my site is taking so long to load in production. After the page is completely done being received, I see it's transferred 40.7 mb resources which is a lot but the initial page load accounts for only 20.1kb of that, followed by images/js/css.

systemd-networkd not launching DHCPv6 client

The systemd-networkd documentation makes this statement...

By enabling DHCPv6 support explicitly, the DHCPv6 client will
be started regardless of the presence of routers on the link

This is the behavior I'm looking for - ignoring any RAs which may or may not appear, and just launching a DHCPv6 client.

I see no evidence that networkd is launching a dhcpv6 client, either from the output of SYSTEMD_L ...

I recently added a drive to my server. However, I check my computer this morning to find the drive doesn't show up on NTFS and I noticed that all folders and files were gone from that mount point on the server.

Adding a security certificate to a remote sql server
kz flag

I'm in the process of trying to add a security certificate to a sql server running on a remote machine. I managed to generate the cert, but I'm a bit lost on the next step. All the instructions I have found assume local access to the machine running the sql server instance. Does anyone know of instructions for how to do it remotely? Is what I want to do even possible?

What LAN issue is characterized by very slow upload speed until an upload to a different target is started on which both get normal?
in flag

When I upload something from a Windows server (qemu kvm) to a new Linux server (bare metal) in the same network the speed is very slow (about 1/100 of what should be possible for the 1GBit/s uplink). Uploads to all other machines (including other Linux servers) in the network work at full speed. And as soon as I start such an upload to another machine while an upload to the problematic Linux server is s ...

How can I tell (or prove) packets are being dropped by my router or my ISP?

I have a Hitron router that was provided by my ISP, and I have it configured to forward ports to devices on my LAN. I used to be able to access machines on the LAN from machines on the LAN by way of WAN IP of the router. For example

curl https://$(curl icanhazip.com)

would, in fact, make an HTTPS connection assuming I had a server listening behind the router.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
