Cant access localhost from another device despite opening port on firewall
in flag

I am trying to access a simple web server on my main machine from my phone. I got my ipv4 IP and opened the port on the firewall, yet I still can't access the port! I just get a timed-out error on my phone. I checked if both devices are on the same network, and they were. Does anybody know any other possible causes of this?

OpenWRT allow IPv6 access LAN host from the Internet
cn flag

I'm new to IPv6 and trying to figure out how to properly configure my router so that I can access a web server through OpenWRT from the Internet.

With IPv4, I use port forwarding. For example, forward port 8080 of the WAN interface to 192.168.1.123:8080. This way I can access the webserver using my public IPv4 address at port 8080.

With my rudimentary understanding of IPv6, I assume I can have OpenW ...

pfSense with FRR not sending RIP advertisements
gp flag

I've been banging my head against this for a week, on and off.

I have a pair of pfSense firewalls (2.6.0-RELEASE) configured for high availability. They support an internal LAN, a DMZ, an OpenVPN server, the SYNC interface and are multi-homed (although one is not yet active).

I've been trying to get them to advertise routes to the DMZ and the OpenVPN connection onto the LAN interface with RIP. This  ...

What I am working on is a self setup arch with a LAMP stack, onto which I also want to add phpMyAdmin, and it is complaining about some disabled functions.

Here is the file after I have commented out everything phpMyAdmin was complaining about, compared to the recommended default.

I am not entirely sure why phpMyAdmin complains about these defaults but I have also tried a brief installation of matomo and ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
