Poor performance of virtualization on ubuntu 21.10 (virt-manager)
au flag

just by switching from 20.04 to 21.10 I get a poor performance on virt-manager, and sometimes it freezes. Just by moving a window around I can see that it lags a lot. I tried many times to move to ubuntu 21.10 and I always get this noticeable difference in the virtualization. I think this has nothing to do with virt-manager but instead with Qemu.

Is there a way to debug what is happening?

I'm looking for a VNC or RDP Ubuntu to Ubuntu setup that logs into current user session
am flag

My main computer is dual boot (Ubuntu 20.04, Windows 10) and connected to our family TV. Sometimes I'm working on something and somebody else wants to use the TV so I have to leave it as they switch over to the cable box. If I'm logged into Windows 10, I can just go to my Ubuntu laptop, open Remmina, start an RDP session, and everything I was working on pops up exactly as I left it on my laptop. I'm sti ...

I have tried modifying the permissions with sudo chmod u+s programName reboot, but the program then the program wont run with sudo ./programName

I can remember doing this, like 12 years ag ...

A GRUB EFI boot-option has been enabled automatically

I was using Ubuntu in a flash drive in my Dell Inspiron 14 5415 laptop (Windows 11) and everything was going really well until today when I had to restore the Ubuntu from the Timeshift image. When I restored from the timeshift. It automatically created a GRUB EFI boot option and also made it the default option to boot into and it's been very annoying since then. I really need help! Install KDE Plasma Settings App Without Installing KDE Plasma
ar flag

So I recently uninstalled KDE Plasma. There are some configuration files that are messing up my GNOME Settings (discussed in my other question GNOME Tweaks > Window Titlebars Settings Don't Work).

How can I install the KDE Plasma settings app without installing the entire DE? When I try to use sudo apt install systemsettings, it asks for confirmation to install "the following packages," which includes ...

Trying to get Radeon R9 270x to work on Ubuntu 20.04
tz flag

I have an older setup that I am trying to get going. Fresh install of 20.04 will go as far as the pink splash screen and stall there. I'm able to get in by using nomodeset but can not get admgpu or radeon to work. I have tried installing the ppa version but that does not work either. What am I missing? do I need to downgrade the kernel?

Bootable USB does not work as described

I have a new laptop to which I want to install Ubuntu. (I don't want live sessions or a duel partition, my goal is to have only Ubuntu installed on the new laptop.)

  1. I downloaded ubuntu-20.04.3 on my old laptop, from ubuntu.com .
  2. I successfully changed the boot order on the new laptop (which has the default windows). It has Uefi and 0 seconds or whatever so that the usual method of pressing F12 didn't  ...

Do Not Dim Wallpaper When in Activities Overview?
ar flag

I would like to know if there is a way to stop the blurring of the wallpaper whenever you go into the Activities Overview in the GNOME Desktop Environment.

If so, is there a way to do it in a GNOME Shell Theme CSS file (i.e. is there a css attribute that changes the dim)?

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
