I downloaded two or three games off of Itch.io that supported Linux and no matter how many times I try to start them it tells me that there is no ":" in the uri and I don't know what to do but I hope this makes sense.

I purged openvpn, now even after reinstalling it, my network manager cannot import OpenVPN config files
cn flag

I made the mistake of purging openvpn, and now even after I apt-get installed it again, there seem to be a lot of issues with Ubuntu's Network Manager and OpenVPN.

For example, I cannot connect to my previously imported OpenVPN configs, and I cannot import new ones; I get this error:

The plugin does not support import capability

How can I fix this?

I accidentally deleted /usr/bin/test and now I can't update, upgrade and install packages.

I already tried the solution here: apt-get raises /usr/bin/test: Permission denied, but this is the output I got:

Gnome Extension not installing
af flag

I just did a fresh install of ubuntu and I installed the gnome shell like the website told me to and when I click on the switch toggle, it slides to On but nothing else happens, no prompt to install, nothing.

When I open the dev console I see this error:

Uncaught (in promise) GDBus.Error:org.gnome.Shell.DownloadInfoError: 6

I have no idea what's wrong and why it's not even prompting.

qnap nfs mounting delays after Ubuntu Updated

After last Ubuntu Update (20.04 LTS), when I mount my qnap nfs shares:

  1. It delays for several minutes (prior to this, it took 1 second to mount it)
  2. During that "long mounting time"... I can move the mouse but nothing respond to clicks, nor to keystrokes.
  3. I put and "strace -t" but it was not evident where the delay is. All events are reported in the same second.

Typing in GPG key manually

Over a decade ago I exported my public and private keys (GnuPG v1.4.6), printed them, laminated them and put them in my safety deposit box. I did this under the theory that I could manually recovery them (especially the private key) if necessary. It is now necessary. I have typed in the key using Emacs (so ASCII I assume) into a file I named "private-key.txt", but gpg won't accept it. I get this messag ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
