Computer hangs at start, cannot pull up terminal
sa flag

I am stuck at startup with my Nvidia Jetson nano, running Ubuntu 18.04.

When it boots, it will show the startup-screen, then it stops running and just hangs. No GUI ever shows up. I cannot open the terminal using Ctrl+Alt+F3 (it acts as if I'm just pressing Alt+F3).

I have switched keyboards, unplugged and restarted several times, and tried booting with nothing connected except for power, keyboard,  ...

How to sync Ubuntu WSL and MINGW home directory for me
in flag

So I'm used to using the Git for Windows mingw and have ssh keys setup there.

Recently adopted Ubuntu 18 on WSL (Windows subsystem for linux) and realized that the home folder in the Ubuntu is different from the home folder for MinGW

MinGW is using my actual Windows home folder (typically C:\Users\eric) and the ssh folder being in C:\Users\eric.ssh

Ubuntu WSL is using a different folder for /home/eric  ...

Cannot access USB with Virtualbox 6.1.32 r149290 on 20.04 host
cn flag

I came across this problem before. The workarounds below used to work. But it just doesn't work this time.

Basically, I have tried to modify vboxdrv.rule

and

sudo adduser $USER vboxusers

but none of them works.

I think it probably has nothing to do with permission since

sudo VBoxManage list usbhost

returns none as well

And

sudo lsusb

doesn't return anything suspicious though

I haven't found how to tell File Manager to display time stamps as default. Is that possible? So inconvenient not to have that when copying files from one location to another.

Making JNLP to work on Ubuntu 20.04

I have been trying for long time to make this work but I have no working results. I understand that I have to install icedtea-netx for Ubuntu 20.04 but seems to not be sufficient. When I access my jnlp icedtea is launched but remains showing the logo. What could be the problem? Does icedtea work together with java installed? I have to install java 1.8.0 too, or what could be the problem? I will be happy ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
