Upside down mouse cursor and inverted mouse input [Ubuntu 21.10]
jp flag

newbie here.

I recently installed Lubuntu in my old Ghia OnlyDue+, everything works fine except for a fine detail: the mouse cursor is upside down and it's input is inverted in both X and Y axes.

I've tried a lot of stuff, regarding xinput and xrandr, but no solution. I algo tried removing the iio-sensor-proxy, but didn't work either.

in flag

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 on a MacBook Pro, using both the internal keyboard, and an extended external one: UK version, numeric pad, arrows keys, function (fn), home end up down, and with f13 to f19. I only installed the minimum Ubuntu without tweaks for the moment, and I move step by step to get my workflow with Open Source / Free Software that I already use on Mac OS, with no more proprietary software.  ...

Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop Trying to install a package from an offline mirror and I get the error: Unable to locate package scribus.

The debs for the package are on the server. The package is in the package list. The same computer can find the package from the official Ubuntu server.

Alert Volume won't unmute
in flag

enter image description here

So I have an issue where the Alert volume keeps going to 0 whenever I reboot. I prefer to have the sounds on, but they won't stay on when I leave Ubuntu (this happens on all Desktop Environments). Is there a way to force this to stay at full volume every time? The normal sound isn't effected, it's just the Alert sounds.

How to switch from integrated to dedicated gpu?

I'm new to linux and I use Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS. I need to switch from integrated to dedicated gpu, or be able to launch some programs (ex. steam) with nvidia gpu. I had this problem previously and I solved it using: xrandr --setprovideroffloadsink ... It worked until recently (I think until nvidia issued a new 510 driver). Now I can't use the above method to resolve my problem, because the output of

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
