I am trying to set up an automated installation environment for ubuntu 22.04. We have this already working in production for 20.04 and previous LTS releases for many years. We use pxe/isolinux and a tftp and dhcp server to perform the network and cd boot. And some trickery to get uefi working.

I am unable to find working vmlinuz and initrd images which allow me to start an automated ubuntu 22.04  ...

IIS accepting requests with zero-width characters
ao flag

We're running an API behind a pair of load-balanced IIS v10 servers that route the request to a pair of Tomcat servers (historical reasons for this architecture).

A couple of instances have come up when a request is coming through where the URI includes a zero-width control character. This value isn't coming through as encoded, and is appearing with this control character in this log files.

Bridging with OpenVPN on a VPS without an actual LAN on the server side for LAN Gaming
gg flag

I am trying to set up an OpenVPN-Server on a VPS that allows LAN Broadcasts between the connected clients.

Now I read that you need bridging for that. But in my case the VPS has no LAN. It is just the server with an ethernet interface with access to the internet.

But is it possible to set up a bridge on the VPS so that clients can connect to it resulting in all clients being connected to each other  ...

Domain name change
ph flag

I just ran into an issue with a client that we are migrating from their forest to a new forest using Quest tool Binary Tree

The issue is the source domain is called "domainname" and is not a FQDN "domainname.local or domain name.com"

It's the first time I've run into an MS forest that is not a FQDN and the migration tool requires a FQDN.

Anyone run across this before, any ideas how to fix or fake out d ...

ru flag

I executed the command apt autoremove but those folders persist.

As the command "du -h -x --max-depth=1 /usr/lib | sort -hr | head -n 10" showed me, they are currently using almost 1G each:

858M /usr/lib/modules
823M /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

How can i cleanup this? Thank you.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
