nl flag

I need to use my custom ceilometer publisher via REST api and I've built my own measuring system on my development cluster. But today when I deployed ceilometer using juju on a production openstack using maas and juju, It needs a relation to gnocchi and it is in Blocked state. Is it possible to ignore a relation in a charm app?

Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't boot after kernel update
ma flag

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 on my computer:

Intel i7-11700, ASUS PRIME B560M-A, 32GB RAM, NVMe drive WD 1TB

There was several kernel updates since my first installation. But last booting kernel is 5.11.0-44-generic. Later installed kernel 5.13.0-27-generic nor 5.13.0-28-generic doesn't work.

When started via rescue mode with safe graphics resolution it boots. So probably the graphics is the issue.

When I boot my computer it is always stuck for ca 2 minutes on motherboard logo screen. There is a loading indicator but no more explaination. I am approaching pygame now, I am running a small program that opens a pygame window and shows an intro, which is a simple screen with a background and two buttons (they light up only when the mouse is hovered over).

When I run the code I am shown the following terminal error:

I am a newbie so sorry if the question is very stupid.

I want to install Ubuntu20.04 on my laptop. I have created a bootable pendrive with ISO image using rufus.

I understand that I have to plug-in the USB and restart the PC, and then go to the BIOS menu and change the BIOS order and plce my USB first (in boot order).

locale shows different settings for root user
us flag

I'm confused about the locale settings on my system. I have an Ubuntu 20.04.3 server that I connect to via Putty.

I'm root on the system (I know. Stupid idea. But I'm just setting this up and then I don't do it anymore when I'm done.). When I run the locale and sudo locale commands on the system I get different results and I have no idea where this is coming from.

Result with locale:

Using cluster of eGPUs crashes Ubuntu 21.10

We've set up an AMD Ryzen computer with Ubuntu 21.10, and plugged 6 Akitio Duo machines each with 2x NVIDIA 4GB cards, as well as a 13th card directly on the PCIe slot which is a 16GB NVIDIA card (RTX A4000).

We have this rig running 16x threads of Alphafold2 (https://github.com/deepmind/alphafold#running-alphafold) and for the most of it, it can run without issues for a while.

I'm trying to connect to my server terminal thru SSH, before at my home everything worked fine, on my Ubuntu server terminal I did ifconfig, get the ipv4 IP address and connect to it. Strange directory named 萇U found in home directory

Today I noticed a directory with the name 萇U in my home directory, created (or is it modified?) three days ago.

Can anyone identify what would create this directory? Or even tell me what the name means? Google translate gives a word I've never heard of, carambola, which it seems is another word for 'star fruit'. My best guess is it's a misinterpreted string given the mix of latin and Chinese ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
