Lubuntu 21.10 won't suspend (sleep)
us flag

I have a dual boot Lubuntu 21.10 / Windows laptop. Recently it won't suspend (sleep). No matter I do it from start menu or use command line pm-suspend or systemctl suspend . After trying to suspend, laptop's fan turns on with high speed, maybe trying to cool the CPU. Anyway, latop won't enter suspend even after 15 minutes. Neither, power led goes blinking or fan stops.

Wifi problem - drops randomly 20.04.3
id flag

My WiFi connection drops at random times. Just upgraded from 18.10 to 20.04.3. Problem was not present in 18.10. Using a WiFi USB dongle, the drop occurred frequently, necessitating a re-boot to reconnect. I pursued some of the advice posted - stopped power-related screen blank which made 0 improvement. I now use an Ethernet connection from a nearby mesh router. That works ok for about 24 hours (I just  ...

Trying to update kernel to 5.14+ on 20.04 for arm64

I'm not an everyday linux user but I'm not a novice either. I need ubuntu for a software project and it's easiest for me to use a traditional virtual machine (although I'm considering multipass).

I'm also on an arm version of macOS and VMWare's "tech preview" was my best option. The vm install and everything went reasonably well, but in order to get display resolutions greater than 1024x768 VMW ...

No response on opened port

I successfully installed a VPN script on my server and can see that it was configured to listen on port 54321 which is confirmed by sudo lsof -i -P -n | grep LISTEND.

The VPN is running, I see the port being listened to, but whenever I navigate to <ip_address>:54321 I get nothing besides a timeout.

Is there any further configuration needed on Ubuntu to allow traffic to/from port 54321? I have open ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
