Wayland how to set a custom resolution that works for Gnome
in flag

I just upgraded from 21.04 to 21.10. Previously I have to rely on using xrandr to set the screen resolution to 1280x1024@60Hz because I have a old Logix monitor.

I tried https://itectec.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-wayland-how-to-set-a-custom-resolution/ and all I got was the boot up screen appeared to be in the right resolution (Ubuntu 21.10 ...) but the screen reverted to 1024x768 when the login screen ap ...

After encrypting a file, using the same encryption method and entering a different password, the file is decrypted
pt flag

With the encryption tool I downloaded, I encrypt a file with the command sudo apt-get install ecryptfs-utils. After performing the operations, I use the umount command and encrypt the .txt files in the file, but when I apply the same operation to the same file and say "mount", it asks for a password, so I enter it intentionally. The password is different. After these operations are done, the txt f ...

Im a student, and don't know ubuntu very good. But i have a task, one part of which is "Configure the Linux server to run start-sample.sh on every server restart". I probably completely wrong, but in previous steps I have been required to install openSSH server, so Im assume I need to somehow put my start-sample.sh into openSSH config, so it will launch at every restart. Can't access the machine through the second interface

I just recently started exploring the Ubuntu OS. My goal was to install Squid-server on Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS. Squid has been successfully installed and launched. The problem is different.

There is Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS with two physical interfaces ens32 and ens34.

ens32 has IP 192.168.11.32 and is connected to 192.168.11.0 network.

ens34 has IP 192.168.9.4 and is connected to 192.168.9.0 net ...

Updated windows always on top in all workspaces

Tom

I'm running 21.04 and Xorg. I use multiple workspaces a lot. There are certain apps whose windows end up at the top of the Alt+Tab list in every workspace whenever certain events occur. An app that opens a new window on another workspace will do this, for instance. Telegram will do this every time a new message arrives. The Immersed agent will do this every time a headset connects or disconnects.  ...

xkbset setting does not persist
pr flag

I use keys on my keyboard for mouse clicks. For this to work I need to invoke

xkbset m

This works for a few minutes, then for some reason this setting gets reverted! I have resorted to leaving a terminal open with

while true; do xkbset m; sleep 5; done

I'm wondering if there's a "correct" way to do this, such that this setting becomes permanent / persistent.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
