Grub2 working, but not visible
kw flag

I just did a fresh dual boot installation of Windows 10 along with Ubuntu 20.4 LTS. Grub2 seems to be working fine, but simply isn't showing up. Instead, it just states "booting in insecure mode" or something of that sort.

I know that grub2 is working because if I immediately press enter, it boots in Windows (just as I customized it with Grub Customizer) and if a reboot and then on the same scree ...

Ubuntu 21.04 on iMac 19,2 Model - No Sound Output
ru flag

I'm really confused as to why no sound is coming out of the speakers or headphones. Ubuntu seems to recognize all of the devices just fine. From the attached images you can see the audio meter is moving while I'm playing music. I've included the settings screen and the alsamixer output. I can't seem to find anything online to even really troubleshoot this. Any troubleshooting suggestions would be h ...

Intel NUC10i7FNH shuts down after selecting Ubuntu in GNU GRUB version 2.04
cn flag

I'm a newbie to Linux. I installed Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS on my NUC10i7FNH and it seemed to go well (https://itsfoss.com/install-linux-on-intel-nuc/).

When the NUC reboots it shows a GNU GRUB version 2.04 menu with three options - Ubuntu, Unbuntu (other options), Bios (I think).

If I select the 'Ubuntu' option the NUC shuts down after about 2 seconds and the following message is briefly displayed: /dev/nvme ...

Can't access new partition

I have a dual boot set up between Windows 10 and Kubuntu 21.04. I created a new partition on an external hard drive where I store files on Windows (not the boot drive). After I format my partition to ext4, I cannot create any files in it. For some reason, I do see that it creates a folder when I format it called "lost and found". The partition is also mounted. When I reboot into it, the connection works fine. When I reboot into Kubuntu, the wired connection fails to start.

The wired connection does work if I completely power off the PC and then start it back up. I have tried disabling Fast Boot and Wake-on-LAN as I've seen in other posts, but with no luck.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
