Problem is: I want these home folders to be accessible online via apache2 but accessible to the users as well . If I set the owner of each home directory to the corresponding user, I can ftp to these directories, but apache fails to access the files. If I set owner to www-data, the directories work fi ...

Ubuntu doesnt boot after swapping my Gpu
cn flag

I swapped my r7 260x for an rx 6600xt and hoped that it would work fine , since both cards are from amd, but when I try to boot it just shows the motherboard splash screen until I force shutdown. It works fine on windows , so the card seems to work. I still have the old card , are there possible solutions to this?

(I have no clue how drivers work on linux , any help would be nice :D ty)

Sound display window won't resize, goes off screen
ke flag

When I open the sound settings in the general settings, the window is so long it cannot fit onscreen. This is because one of the speaker names has been repeated over and over without a line break. None of the resizing tips worked. I can't seem to delete the extra lines with repeated speaker names. What should I do?

This problem popped up again in using Google meet and I couldn't give permission t ...

I want to type zhuyin symbols.

For example: ㄓㄨˋ ㄧㄣ

The only ways I know to do this currently are:

  1. Via Cangjie IME [yyyxo yyyxw yyyyo yyyxv yyyyi]

I'm looking for a built-in fcitx keyboard or some similar native tool to type according to the zhuyin keyboard layout. (i.e. [5j4 up] for ㄓㄨˋ ㄧㄣ)

how to build a snap based on a jre
fr flag

I'm the developer of jape, a formal logic proof editor which uses java to provide a GUI and OCaml to provide a proof-step engine. (see rbornat/jape on github). I'm trying to package jape as a snap. The snap contains a jre, built using jlink and the JDK 11 from adoptopenjdk. It commences by calling a class in the jre.

To build the snap I had already to include build-attributes: [keep-execstack] because t ...

How to check if my fans working correctly
vn flag

I own a hp laptop and recently I wonder if my fans work correctly.

Assuming that I have always been based on a Windows experience and with that operating system, the fans were always activated and made a great noise!
With Ubuntu instead, my computer has become so silent to do so to make me worry about my fans' work.

So after downloaded and configurated sensors, this is the output:

What is the difference between a file without an extension and a folder? What I mean exactly is that when I create a file in the terminal, for example:

then delete that file and create a directory with the same name:

mkdir somefile

they look the same in ls. How to differentiate between them without using cd somefile?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
