Freeze after waking up from suspend and entering password prompt, after updating to 21.04

I recently updated to 21.04, suspend and wake up worked fine before.

After the update I noticed that after waking up from suspend and pressing enter to open the password prompt, the screen freezes. I am able to get into into a terminal and restart gdm but this kinda defeats the point of suspending.

bash tab auto-complete is too slow but it isn't with teraterm or putty
us flag

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 and it got stuck in 1~2 seconds when I push the tab button for auto-completion.

I've been trying to resolve this problem but I couldn't make it. I even changed my computer to the new one but it has same problem.

One weird thing is that when I connect my ubuntu with ssh in other pc(using teraterm or putty or other pc's ubuntu), the problem is gone and works well.

I don't know why. ...

Ubuntu 20.04 started freezing often days after installation on Lenovo V14 AMD Ryzen 3 3250u
ru flag

I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10 (dual boot) on a new machine - Lenovo V14 AMD® Ryzen 3 3250u with Radeon graphics × 4, 64-bit, RAM 8GB (but only 5.6GB RAM is showing in the "info" tab so I guess 2gb is allocated to graphics).

After a few days Ubuntu started freezing very often, usually after I open some more apps or tabs. Firstly the buttons of apps stop working, then the mouse ...

In May 2021 i upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04 OS. My computers performance dropped significantly, the brightness dropped a lot, and I cannot move icons on the desktop, and i do not have the option of 9:4 resolution for monitor settings.

The performance is slow; it takes few to several seconds when opening and closing applications, including browser tabs.

Can chrony be configured as ntp server with gpsd without PPS

I'm wanting to setup an ntp server on Ubuntu 18.04 or later. This PC will have little to no access to internet. I currently have a ublox 8 GPS USB mouse that does not support PPS. I have followed the setup for both gpsd and chrony. gpsd is working but does not share time information with chrony via the shared memory or socket. Is this setup possible?

Ubuntu fails to boot : freezes while starting services

I use Ubuntu 20.04. I just switched hard drives. I went from an MBR to a GPT partitioned hard drive.

The problem is when I run Ubuntu on my new hard drive, the boot process stops when starting services. It stopped when starting snap.modem-manager.modemmanager.service, and when I disabled this service, it stopped at gdm.service. Meanwhile, during the former stop, it has successfully started gdm.service

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
