ph flag

In May 2021 i upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04 OS. My computers performance dropped significantly, the brightness dropped a lot, and I cannot move icons on the desktop, and i do not have the option of 9:4 resolution for monitor settings.

The performance is slow; it takes few to several seconds when opening and closing applications, including browser tabs.

The Brightness is very low, inspite of setting u ...

Can chrony be configured as ntp server with gpsd without PPS
zw flag

I'm wanting to setup an ntp server on Ubuntu 18.04 or later. This PC will have little to no access to internet. I currently have a ublox 8 GPS USB mouse that does not support PPS. I have followed the setup for both gpsd and chrony. gpsd is working but does not share time information with chrony via the shared memory or socket. Is this setup possible?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad 10 which has been running Windows 10 and has been replaced by a new laptop, so I thought to try Kubuntu with it. Downloaded 21.04 and it installed happily and runs OK. But the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I used with it in Windows cannot be detected by Kubuntu Bluetooth. Searching just goes on forever. Downloaded Blueman and get the same result. I am in the process of making a live USB for use in an IT environment, where the use will need to be very plug-and-play, with little to no interruption. I'm onto QOL development, and I am trying to remove the following screen, which shows up whenever the user signs in:

Ubuntu fails to boot : freezes while starting services
de flag

I use Ubuntu 20.04. I just switched hard drives. I went from an MBR to a GPT partitioned hard drive.

The problem is when I run Ubuntu on my new hard drive, the boot process stops when starting services. It stopped when starting snap.modem-manager.modemmanager.service, and when I disabled this service, it stopped at gdm.service. Meanwhile, during the former stop, it has successfully started gdm.service

Audio/Microphone driver issues ubuntu

I have been plagued with audio problems on my Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB. I am currently running ubuntu 21.04. I have tried every solution I could find from sudo alsa force-reload, running through https://itsfoss.com/fix-sound-ubuntu-1304-quick-tip/, to re-installing Ubuntu fresh (in case I messed something up real bad).

After much effort, I have managed to get one of my speakers (center out of l-r-c) ...

Can not find wifi adaptor in wintel8 Cherry Trail CR Atom z8350 Ubunto
at flag

I brought home the minipc mentioned above and the first thing I did was installing ubunto v20.04. However, I am having trouble getting the wifi to connect. The bluethooth meanwhile seems to be working fine.

I have tried to update the drives using an Ethernet connection but with no luck. The problem seems to be that the OS does not recognize the wireless adaptor

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition Mic not working in Ubuntu 20.04

I am unable to switch to HSP/HFP mode, it works only in A2DP (only speaker works). And i have already tried this solution and it got mic working, but when i selected HSP/HFP, i got too much noise in speaker (A2DP Sink gives clear sound).

It works fine on windows 10 (Same PC) and my android phone. And i checked on OnePlus site, and i can't find whether it supports HSP/HFP or not.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
