Ubuntu freezes and does not start anymore
es flag

Since one week I've got a problem with my Ubuntu. Basically, sometimes (but more and more often), I get a grub-like menu in the beginning that does not move, and my only choice is to reboot (starting the loop again most of the times).

Also, recente, my Ubuntu quite often just unexpectedly freezes. Any ideas on what to do to solve this?

How to give a non-sudoer permission to apt-get?
de flag

There are many users within our server. Most of them are non-sudoers. For safety, I can't give them the permission of sudoer. However, when they want to install software by apt-get, they can only ask me to install the software by my account with the permission of sudoer. I want to give them the permission of apt-get so that they can install the software by themself.

Can anyone help me?

How to determine whether a process is running or not in the current workspace to make a conditional shell script?
us flag

This is more like a follow up of this thread here.

I'm using i3-tiling window manager and I'm trying to figure out if a Firefox instance is running IN A SPECIFIC WORKSPACE or not.

Now,

pgrep -x firefox works flawlessly it really only tells you that if a program is running and not much about where it is running, or in which workspace is it running?

Is there any way for me to do that?

Docker - ubuntu 21.04 - low host CPU usage
us flag

I'm running a LAMP application using docker compose on Ubuntu 21.04. The application is extremely slow.

Checking the docker stats I'm seeing that the CPU % usage, while loading a page, is most of the time around 0.01*% except few spikes, that unfortunately lasts few seconds, where the CPU usage hits an higher percentage (around 20%- 30%).

UPDATE: I tried copying everything from the old user partition to the new but ran out of space. I'm reluctant to "mv" the files. Is there a way to permanently switch the partitions? I used to do all of this "by hand" in the 90s, but I've become feeble-minded in my old age, I guess. My old files are on /dev/nvme0n1p2 -- but I suppose that would also include the old system. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
