Trying to install RadeonOpenCompute which requires Python 3.8 but my Kubuntu has Python 3.9 When I tried to install RadeonOpenCompute
cn flag

The error message I received is

rocm-gdb : Depends: libpython3.8 but it is not installable E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Should I install Kubuntu LTS which comes with Python 3.8

or should I install both Python 3.9 and 3.8 onto my Kubuntu 21.04?

And if installing both 3.8 and 3.9 can be done, how do I do that? Thanks

QEMU freezes when booting with USB drive passthrough

Goal

I'm trying to read the contents of a USB 3 external hard drive. It's got a GPT partition table, with almost all space allocated to a single Core Storage partition, which contains a single HFS+ volume of interest.

I haven't been able to natively mount it on linux using libfvde; the resultant block device isn't recognized by either hfsfuse or hfsprogs as being a valid HFS+ volume. I know the volume  ...

Nemo icon view spacing
ru flag

I recently changed from Nautilus to Nemo because lacking of "type-ahead-search" and sorting in search.

Overall experience in Nemo is great except there's way to much space between icon in normal view.

Compact view make things so messy as it doesn't align anything. But the spacing looks fine.

Is there a way to change the spacing?

I have a couple Debian based Linux distributions running on VMware Workstation Player on Windows 10. I used to be able to SSH in to the virtual machine from the host machine from a PowerShell or Ubuntu (WSL) terminal without any problem. But lately I have not been able to do so.

First I start the SSH service on the virtual machine.

Then I verify that the service is running.

GRUB menu selection moves two lines for up/down arrow press
jp flag

On this computer (ASUS Zenith II Extreme Alpha, dual boot) the GRUB menu selection moves two lines when I press the up or down arrow key. This isn't a problem when I want to boot the default OS, but is a hassle with I'm trying to select the non-default OS. I have to keep hitting up / down until it moves just one line (which happens once is a dozen or so key hits). I'm using logitech USB wired keyboard ...

How can I revert from using GTK 3 to GTK 2 on Kunbuntu 20.04?
in flag

I am using OpenCPN 5.2.4 with OpenGL (required for overlaying radar over charts) under Kubuntu 20.04. A tracked OpenCPN bug related to using GTK3 prevents OpenCPN from scaling the display appropriately when the display scaling is used (I use 200% to scale on a 15.6-inch 4k display).

A temporary workaround is to use GTK2 instead of GTK3.

My question is: How can I revert down to GTK2 on my system?

How can I fix an Ubuntu partition that gets stuck on the motherboard splash screen?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
