RipperX 2.80 on 20.04 not creating output files
in flag

installed RipperX 2.80 on Ubuntu 20.04 for ripping CDs to MP3. No problems with installation.

Runs OK, but I must be missing a configuration switch somewhere. It happily picks up the media detail from gnudb.gnudb.org/~cddb/cddb.cgi, creates a folder named for the artist, a subfolder named for the album, rips every track, but doesn't create any actual MP3 files. The album folder remains empty.

I see a lot of similar questions, but:

  1. they are very old (2012-2014)
  2. they said it never worked

Instead, my issue is different. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 on a PC desktop, here the specifications:

Keyboard layout: iBus or System Settings?
id flag

My Kubuntu 21.10 installation worked fine with three input layouts defined: DE, NO, EN (US). I could change layouts by pressing both CTRL-keys simultaneously, and the current layout was displayed in the system tray.

Then I discovered this little iBus thingy in the system tray and wondered what it does. It showed only one layout, DE. The pre-defined keyboard shortcut SUPER+Space didn't do anything ...

Stuck with installing Ubuntu on Asus G733QS

I'm getting stuck with installing Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS (latest) on a brand new Asus (ROG Strix) G733QS. There are successful installations with Debian 11 and Mint 20.3 on this hardware. In my (Ubuntu) case, however, after booting from USB flash (FastBoot and SecureBoot are disabled), and selecting the (OEM) install option, I end up with both ROG and Ubuntu logos on screen but no further progress, i.e.

install lubuntu manual partition mbr no remove option

Im installing lubunt from usb, I'm following this guide this. But I can't see the option to erase the disk, even executing sudo swapoff -a, and it's not clear for me to use PCManFM-Qt, because I don't know what to do.

Anyway, I tried to do a manual partition following some videos but none of them use the 'mbr' disk, so the option's are different, and I don't know how to follow an Ubuntu guide (yes, I ...

Ubuntu 20.04 install error possibly related to RAID

Trying to install Ubuntu server 20.04.04 on a remote server.

I don't have on site access so the installer is mounted from a USB stick and the install is happening over SSH. I made a custom install with a cloud-install file which only sets the password allowing me to SSH in and guide the install from that point.

The first few steps are fine until I get to drive configuration and then it shows;

I was experimenting with the Linux flavour, and I tried to install kubuntu-desktop on my system, after that, I didn't like the GUI that much so I removed it using --purge method and autoclean.

And after that when I rebooted the system instead of opening the Ubuntu GUI a black screen appears and this was written on the screen

grub is showing three error lines before menu displays

No luck googling; I see three lines before menu displays:

Then the expected grub menu comes up. This is a Ubuntu 20.04 install so probably Grub 2.04; fresh install of ESP partition on external SSD via USB 3.0 ... secure boot, if that helps (I ran MOKUTIL after instal ...

what determines where applications go when connecting another monitor

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
