Unable to change permissions and user:group of SMB mounted directory
cl flag

I have a trueNAS SMB mount to a Proxmox VM directory. The mount works fine however, in order for services to automatically move files from one part of the same directory to another, I need to remove root as the user:group. I'm able to set the higher folders to the user I want and set the permissions at /media all the way into that directory at /media/data/media however, inside media is all root -

How to mount or unmount all partitions of a device at once using udisksctl?
it flag

I need to use udisksctl.
I tried the classic method /dev/sda?* already seen on the internet:

udisksctl mount -b /dev/sda?*

or

udisksctl unmount -b /dev/sda?*

/dev/sda?* in my case is equivalent to /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2

but udisksctl only mounts or unmounts the first partition listed /dev/sda1.
How can I make it mount or unmount all partitions at once?

In my app-launcher ( Kubuntu 20.04.2 ) I am missing some icons. For example the icon for Kmahjongg. When I look in properties I can see the icon (/usr/share/icons/breeze/apps/48/Kmahjongg.svg), but not in the app-launcher. See picture.enter image description here
Does anybody have an idea how I can solve this.

I have my /home in a separate drive, but it keeps unmounting after about 2 days of uptime. What should I do to fix it?
cn flag

My /home folder is mounted in a separate ssd to have more room and my main system files are in /dev/sda1. Here's the df -h list that is relevant:

/dev/sdb1 458G 129G 306G 30% /home

It will run fine on boot but after a few days of being up, the disk will just unmount itself and send me to an infinite lock screen. I usually just reboot and its fine. I have also manually re-mounted the dri ...

Does ufw allow all incoming traffic in response to outbound requests?

I'm confused how ufw works. I've searched the site but most problems stop traffic from coming in, my problem allows traffic in.

I've setup ufw to only allow my custom ssh port; however, I am running a java program on the server that connects to another server via port 4246 and yet all data from the other server is allowed into my server even though I haven't set port 4246/tcp open. I also haven't ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
