Should I build my Haskell app via the RPM SPEC file or try to use a (reproducible) binary from the CI pipeline
in flag

I haven't built an RPM from scratch in 20 years. So we can effectively say "never".

[edit] The requirement for RPMs is to provide roll-backs, version control, and such. It is non-negotiable.

I have a single binary and a single config file I need to install. There's some setup with user accounts and directories that needs to happen that I believe should be straight forward.

Samba D states - High CPU usage
cn flag

Currently the server that is providing samba service to a bunch of clients (Linux and Windows clients) is having 100% CPU usage and high sysload.

Looking through the process list (ps aux), there's a long list of smbd process in D state now - killing them doesn't do anything.

From top, most of the high CPU utilization processes are due to smbd.

I'm on a Linux machine trying to mount an SMB share inside a big network via my Active Directory username:

After the password + succesful mount I try touch /mount/path/test.txt, but I get permission denied. So many search results (this one is the biggest in terms of upvotes) suggest that because of using sudo mount the wr ...

configuring zabbix web scenarios using ansible
in flag

We have a group of VMs that are configured using ansible, including basic zabbix monitoring using the zabbix_host module using a predefined zabbix template.

I would like to be able to generate web scenarios for each of the VMs that have web services. Ansible already has most relevant data e.g. fqdn of the web services. However, I do not see if this is possible using the current ansible zabbix collection ...

Why does my prometheus dashboard only show 2 weeks of data when I have longer term data available?

I am trying to get a remote root (and boot) NFS filesystem working correctly and I am hitting the limits of my knowledge. I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction.

Both TFTP and NFS are served from a Linksys WRT 1900 ACS router running OpenWRT 19.07. This device also has an external SSD which is used as an overlay root file system.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
