what's baloo_file_extractor's process?
cn flag

The other day when I started my computer, it went lagging; today I started it and it seems to be gone but when I went through the task manager, I saw that baloo_file_extractor takes about 50% of CPU, it goes down after a few minutes but it still takes about 6GB of RAM.

I saw on this post that it is related to KDE but I'm on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS (most recent stable version) which uses gnome and not KDE ...

I have a laptop running Ubuntu server with Plex (Server runs on WiFi (2.4 GHz)). When sshing into the server it usually works but randomly (like after 40min) it says host down despite laptop still running and I have to reboot the server to use ssh again.

where is my xfburn coredump
us flag

I'm trying to use xfburn in xubuntu-20.04.3, and it fails on several of my hosts. I'd like to submit a bug, but there's a problem. It ends with a message about SIGSEGV and "core dumped" but I don't see a core dump anywhere.

Am I looking in the wrong place or did it not really happen?

Running "strace xfburn -i" as root, it ends with

There's a way to extend the "right click on folder -> Paste into folder" action to multiple folders simultaneously???

I always end up coping a single file in a lot of folders by doing each of them one by one!

Thanks for the support!

Creating an .appImage : how can one run a binary from a .desktop file?
ke flag

When you build an AppImage, the AppImage actually runs the file inside (or more often a locally installed program) via a .desktop file that the .AppImage also has inside.

What I'm trying to run isn't an installed application but a binary I have in a folder.

the usual trick is to exec bash or sh in order to execute the binary.

I do not have the luxury of that trick because of the context of how AppImage ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
