Why are some applications able to reach the network and others are not?

On a Dell XP 9310 with Ubuntu 20.04 installed, I am seeing an intermittent issue where the network seems to drop for only certain applications. The only way to restore it (that I have figured out thus far) is to restart the computer.

I primarily use Brave as the browser, and Evolution as my email client. This works well most of the time. I noticed that suddenly webpages wont respond and Email w ...

Ubuntu 21.10 freezes during boot when using nvidia drivers
ru flag

First time actually asking a question here, but I've dug through 20 or so threads on this forum and others and can't find anything.

Basically, the issue is that when I try to use my GPU on my laptop (an ACER Predator, the GPU is an RTX 3060 Mobile / Max-Q), it freezes on the startup screen (specifically the Predator logo above the Ubuntu logo, no spinning dots).

It does this when I use any proprieta ...

Multiple monitors with multiple different NVidia graphics cards on the same screen

Is there a way to put monitors connected to different graphics cards on the same screen?

I have a setup with two graphics cards (GTX 1080 and GTX 1050 Ti). The idea is to run a total of 4 monitors on that (one 4K monitor on the GTX 1080, and three 1080p monitors on the GTX 1050 Ti). When starting Ubuntu 21.04 with this setup only the 4K monitor on the GTX 1080 shows the Unity desktop. Two of the  ...

Installation from usb completes successfully and tells me to restart (I have an iMac 2010 model that I replaced the hard drive inside b/c it was a failing hard drive---new hard drive seems to boot and actually allows for a quick Ubuntu installation so all is good there). The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
