I am relatively new to Linux/Ubuntu and am having a very anoying problem that seams to have been around in Ubuntu for a long time based on the google results I got when researching but all solutions seem to be adhoc and half assed.

How to listen to an Ubuntu computer's music library over WiFi on an iPhone
kr flag

I have a laptop with Ubuntu 18.04, with a large collection of music, and would like to listen to it on an iPhone, preferable connected of WiFi. I remember being able to do that with Clementine and an Android phone, and used to absolutely love that feature, however: (1) I now use an iPhone (because that was what was available as hand-me-downs) and (2) Clementine seems to not have had a release since 2016 ...

Besides this other problem I had with irium webcam on linux, when we close irium webcam and try to open it again we get the message:

Weird temperature showing up in one of my SSD drives (Gnome Disk Utility)
cn flag

my Kingston A400 SDD drive is showing an anomalous temperature of 92°C according to the disk utility. While my other SDD, which is a Hikvision C100, is showing 35°C which is reasonable.

Kingston A400 showing up a temperature of 92°C/198°F

Normal temp showing up on the Hikvision SSD

Any reason why this might be happening? I have Windows 11 installed on the Kingston SDD and Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on the Hikvision. Thanks.

Updating old Linux Desktop (version 14) and need advice on wifi connection

My Ubuntu based Linux desktop computer has been offline from the internet for 4-5 years. Long story I will not get into. Lol

It is currently running version 14 long term support IIRC. What is the best path forward to bring my operating system up to date? Will I be able to jump straight to the latest long term support package? What pitfalls do I need to avoid?

Second, I need to get back on the intern ...

Full disclosure: I am not tech savvy. I've found quite a few links related to this topic but as someone who has never used terminal before I don't know where to begin.

Essentially, my webcam isn't working so I've gathered from other posts that I need to install a webcam driver. A lot of the directions in the linked posts are like a foreign language to me (i.e., "Dependencies for make are curl, xz ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
