Kind of a noob. I've tried everything from turning off power management to changing/flushing my DNS, but the issue persists. From a quick speed test my Wifi tends to either be extremely slow or very fast (though mostly slow). What I've tried:

Lubuntu does not find Wi-Fi (and I cannot connect to the internet by wire)
gb flag

I just installed Lubuntu 20.04 on an old Toshiba laptop (model is SATELLITE C40-C-10K) and it cannot find any Wi-Fi connection. It couldn't find a Wi-Fi connection also while I was on live boot, but I thought, it will find a connection when I install Lubuntu. I found several solutions on the internet, but they all require a wired connection. That's the problem, this laptop does not have a LAN port, ther ...

Western Digital 14 TB Desktop Drive & Ubuntu
ae flag

When using this new 14TB WD USB HDD with independent power supply the drive (according to western digital) won’t sleep, they have software for win/mac when this occurs, not Linux.

When I unmount and safely remove the drive the light keeps flashing and never stops, you can hear the drive spin down. On one occasion, this did not happen— all other uses it has.

Trying to access files from Win11 on dual boot
de flag

I was asked to clarify, so here goes. I've got a dual boot Windows 11/Ubuntu Studio 21.10 machine. I'm running Ubuntu and try to connect to the Windows partition to access files. Using Dolphin I click on the Windows drive and I am prompted for a password. I guess Win 11 doesn't use passwords anymore, so I tried my sister's pin. Its her machine I am trying to remotely set up. I never had to provide crede ...

My system is a dual boot Windows 10 / Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, and the tablet has been working perfectly on Windows.

On Ubuntu, when I plug the tablet it / turn it on, it briefly displays the quick selection menu that appears for new monitors (extend display / mirror / one only etc...), but then  ...

Dual op system, stuck in win boot
us flag

I had partitioned the hard drive on a HP Windows 10 machine, and opted for an Ubutu distro. I've been succesfully running it for some time but wanted to give a shot to another linux distro and hit F10 to enter and select boot from CD / DVD ROM Drive. Stuck in the Windows boot every time and all I want now is to get my beloved Unbutu to boot again.

Admittedly, I don't know quite what I am doing. A ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
