What is the difference between the two versions of KeePassXC in the Ubuntu Software Center?
ca flag

I'm trying to figure out which KeePass version I should install. Ubuntu Software Center doesn't make the choice any more easier.

In the description of KeePassX, it says (emphasis added):

In contrast to KeePassXC (package keepassxc), the development pace of KeePassX has slowed down. It has less features, and uses an outdated version of the Qt widget. If you do not know whether you should install  ...

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 on a HP 17-ak032nf laptop.

Feel free to ask anything you need to find the source of it, because I always have to force shutdown by pressing the power button.

I've tried much solutions involving editing Grub, ...

OEM Installer password
it flag

As I discovered a bug in the Kubuntu 21.10 OEM installer, I would like to have a look into the logs in a different tty.

Unfortunately I can't access the preinstalled oem account as I can't find a password.

Does anbody know if there even is a password set, and if so provide it. Alternatively could anyone provide a method of opening a terminal in the OEM installation?

ntfsusermap for triple boot
se flag

I have a triple boot system: macOS, Windows (Fast Boot disabled), and Xubuntu. Beside the OS drive, there's a data drive formatted in NTFS.

I use ntfsusermap as mentioned in osxfuse's NTFS-3G guide to write to the drive on macOS. However, I can't write normally under Xubuntu anymore. For example:

  • touch new_file does create new_file, but it complains setting times of 'new_file': Permission denied ...

Which tool with a square icon that has "Performance" and "Powersave" is this?
in flag

The tool's icon is a black square with three small protrusions for each of the top and left sides, and a white bar across the bottom. Its menu has "Performance" and "Powersave" options, with a dot next to "Powersave".

I installed this while looking for a tool for powersaving, referencing an answer here. But it is not serving the purpose. Which tool is this, and how can I remove it?

My Ubuntu version:

Is it possible to boot from a live USB stick on a Mac?

I created the USB stick using this tutorial, and I have tried a couple of different USB sticks as well as using both iso mode and DD mode in rufus.

Grub seems to be loading properly from the USB stick. I'm asked if I want to boot Ubuntu, Ubuntu with safe graphics, and a couple of other options. When I choose to boot Ubuntu from the menu my machine sh ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
