  • Try to use key Mapper
  • Manually edit the xkb file of the layout using xev command to identify the key symbols
  • Try to install keyboard Layout tool  ...

Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, 64-bit.

I know close to nothing at all about Linux so please go easy on me.

Connection dropped - possibly because I apparently opened too many tabs at once over my VPN.

Now my wifi isn't connecting at all. I've tried multiple networks, both wireless and ethernet.

However, both the network name & wifi icon are displayed in top right dropdown menu, somehow with varying network streng ...

I picked up a prebuilt CyberPowerPC from Amazon on Black Friday for machine learning and crypto mining. I need to install Ubuntu to be able to use it for ML (and rent it to other researchers when I'm not using it: https://vast.ai/).

I followed this guide, plus a few other guides and YouTube videos to confirm/fill in gaps:

Two program versions, file associations everywhere
in flag

I have two versions of VSCodium installed - a manual install and a snap install, and they've split file associations between them. I'd like to eliminate the snap version (it's rarely updated): is it possible to have the one I keep inherit its file associations? Will it do that anyway, since the programs are named the same thing?

Facebook keeps telling me I'm on a new device

For some reason Facebook on my Ubuntu desktop keeps telling me I'm logging in from a new device, and I have to go through the rigmarole of proving my identity every time I go to Facebook. FB works fine on my Android 'phone, and on my Ubuntu laptop. I've tried clearing all the cache and cookies in Firefox, and even tried a different browser (Opera).

No fractional scaling option for displays with Cinnamon 5.11.0-43-generic
cn flag

I recently changed from GNOME to Cinnamon 5.11 for my desktop environment. However, I'm not seeing any option for fractional scaling of my displays in the GUI. See: https://imgur.com/a/wEXhaZP. The only options under "User interface scaling" that I see are "Automatic", "Normal", and "Double". I'd like to be able to apply different scaling to each display. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Ubuntu 20.04LTS not waking up properly after suspend
br flag

I have a laptop Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H, using a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile. In the Additional Drivers section, I've tried many versions of the driver (eg: nvidia-driver-470, nvidia-driver-495, etc) and the problem remains the same.

The problem is that after I suspend my laptop and later try to wake it up, the screen remains dark, even though the keys in the keyboard light up.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
