by flag

I only have a laptop with ubuntu 20.04 installed.
I am anxious to learn php but the book I have only explains how to install php and set up local server for Window and Mac users. I found a stack overflow page that explains how but it is 10 years old and I decided to ask this question.
So could you please explain how I can set up a local server and practice and test php programming?

Best package for embedding Latex equation in OpenOffice, Libreoffice, etc
at flag

I have been using a Latex extension with Libreoffice to embed equations in my text documents. However, it is quite buggy. It simply "loses" the tex source, retaining only the embedded image, so that the equation can no longer be edited. Also, sometimes it moves the images to the top of the document.

I have experimented with Writer2Latex in OpenOffice and found that it won't save a text document i ...

I created an Oracle VM with Ubuntu, during which, I generated an ssh key pair, which I uploaded to Oracle.

This key allows me to login to the default user, and everything works fine.

I added however a new user, copied over the public key to the new authorized_keys in the new profile, but am unable to log in with my user. I actually changed the configurations in sshd to only allow the default user, a ...

cn flag

As of originally writing this question (Dec. '21), we're months away from a new Ubuntu LTS version (Apr. '22). This question does apply to any timeframe prior to an LTS release though.

I have received a new machine for work, which I intend to run the latest LTS when it is available. However, now I need to decide which OS to install. Should I install the current LTS (20.04) or the latest Ubuntu (2 ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
