Size of a package: "Installed-Size" vs "Size"
at flag

I am trying to find out a package size. I tried the following command:

$ apt-cache show mlocate | grep Size
Installed-Size: 252
Size: 50136

Does "Installed-Size" mean size after unpacking the package? while "Size" means the size in RAM?

Xubuntu did not load
in flag

After switching on, Xubuntu crashed. There was Xubuntu logo and moving arrow for a long long time. After hitting Esc key, I got this message. And finally I had to switch off and on. This happened quite often. From attached image and Neofetch are supporting details. I have been being with Xubuntu for a few months, this problem never happened in Fedora. Why didn't Xubuntu load and then crashed ?

Landing in systemd emergency prompt after lengthy boot repair process. Problem: Missing FS in fstab flile
de flag

I realize there's been several questions by people who've had issues booting already, but I think mine is a rather particular case, so I'm posting yet another question in hopes of addressing some new issues.

I've been repairing the boot process of a VM that had an initramfs (initrd.img and vmlinuz files in /boot) from kernels that were no longer installed, and was trying to still boot from them.

I want to OEM install Ubuntu 20.04LTS and distribute it with KVM installed. A user who boots the installed OS must be a member of the "libvirt" group in order to use KVM, but how do I set it to automatically join the group the first time it boots?

Issues in creating VLAN interface using netplan on ubuntu
cn flag

I have been trying to create a vlan interface on my ubuntu VM which has one network adapter. I could see that the vlan link has been successfully created, but I don't see any traffic passing through. Could it be due the similar mac address on both the links. Here is my netplan config along with ifconfig and ip link output.

Keyboard remap [Alt_L] + {ijkl} as arrow {Up, Left, Down, Right}
vn flag

I want to use 'ijkl' together with alt to act like arrow keys. i.e. Alt+i = Up , Alt+K = Down etc.

I have tried xmodmap following this answer. The answer says that Alt modified key is the third column in xmodmap. Yet, xmodmap -e "keycode 31 = i I Up" does not assign up to Alt+i.

I have also tried xbindkeys following another answer. But this does not work as well.

Sync Ubuntu folder with Anbox
cn flag

I have Anbox (v4-56c25f1) running on my Ubuntu 18.04 PC and I want to sync a folder between the two systems.

It may be possible to use a cloud drive like Google Drive or Dropbox, but I am hoping for a more direct and faster solution given that Anbox is part of the Ubuntu filesystem. Plus Anbox doesn't seem to like multiple Google Drive accounts.

The simplest solution is changing the Anbox folder per ...

Restrict Roots permissions

Is it possible to restrict what Root can do so that a user can not sudo a command or log in as root and run commands? I would like to change Roots and User1's Read, Write, and Execute permissions on /path/to/directory and all of its contents. But then give MyAdmin permission to modify that path. Give app access to ssh pub file
ru flag

I'm on 20.04 (Desktop) running DBeaver. I need to add my ssh key to a login.

When I tried to go to my key, it says permission denied. What is the best method to give the app permission to the folder without potentially exposing the file? How do I run an app with different permissions or add it to a group that I can give access to the ssh pub file?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
