What is the difference between "systemctl hibernate" and "hibernate" commands?
it flag

I configured hibernate function by the instruction here for Ubuntu 20.04.

Then I tried systemctl hibernate and hibernate commands and both are working fine.

By description from man, help and because of different locations of systemctl and hibernate (fromwhereis, which) it seems that this commands have different implementation.

What is the difference between them? Which one should be used?

Ubuntu 21.10 set AltGr + u -> ü
lc flag

I'm trying to change the keyboard, so that by entering AltGr (Right Alt) + u the key ü appears.

Added /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/us

key { [ u, U, udiaeresis, Udiaeresis ] };

Ubuntu seems to recognize it:

enter image description here

But if pressing right alt and u nothing happens. Any idea what is missing? I tried to play around with the compose key settings but it didn't help.

I have USB pendrive formated to fat32 or ntfs with photos. Windows see brokend pendrive and can't repair it. Ubuntu doesn't 'assign letter' at all. I think there could be broken partition table or HW misstake on memory chip.

Can anyone help me how can I try to repair partition table on Ubuntu? Here are my attempts to mount disk or identify it anywhere in system.

Can I use virtualization without grub crashes? Why does grub crashes after enabling BIOS virtualization?
us flag

I have a dual Ubuntu/Windows PC. I installed VirtualBox on Windows OS but it didn't work. I read that I had to enable virtualization on the BIOS, so I did it. After that, grub didn't start. I tried to restore grub with supergrub2 without success. Tried with a live CD without success. Tried to reinstall Ubuntu 21.10... I couldn't.

So I went to BIOS to disable virtualization, and grub started corre ...

Where is task manager / task switcher configuration stored in a system with LXQT + Openbox?
us flag

I am using LUbuntu 20.04, which comes with LXQT + Openbox. I am searching for the config files to see why my task switcher is showing all applications in all desktops instead of only applications from current desktop. It's weird, because the task bar is working as intended (showing only apps from current desktop) but task switcher is not.

I am a newbie in this subject. I don't know whether the ta ...

How to navigate gdm3 login manager with keyboard shortcuts
cn flag

Pretty much I want to know how to access the cog-icon with a keyboard shortcut. Is there a way? (Everything I know about Linux tells me there should be and probably is.)

I know this is a question that reeks of "did you google it?", but yes I have and I've found nothing. My Google-fu is weak or I am just using the wrong terminology when asking the question? I don't know.

Thanks in advance.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
